^_^

omg i'm torn   my current family doctor is awful with mental health issues to the point where i only go to her about physical ailments   (and sometimes not even then tough it out at home you know ha ha ha)   when i was 15 my mom tricked me into talking to her about my ~problems~   (like she told me i was going for an annual checkup but then the doctor started asking me personal questions!!!)   and then at the end she was like ''you are really different''   no she didn't say that   she said ''kakaiba ka talaga''   in tagalog   which technically can be translated to ''you are different''   but the meaning is probably closer to ''you are such a strange case''   ha ha ha my family doctor told me this but w/e over it   (not really this is why i never go to the doctor but ANYWAY)   i'm looking to possibly get diagnosed for... some things (that shall remain confidential because i am so not in spill mode today)   mostly for my own peace of mind and so i can maybe get access to like better counselling services and techniques w/e w/e idk!   and idk if i should go to the awful doctor about it   because she already doesn't think too highly of me but that means she's probably more likely to diagnose me or refer me to someone!!! ^_^   on the other hand just thinking about going to her about this makes me anxious   i don't want u 2 no anything abt me!!!! go away i dont trust u!!!!   but if i find a new doctor it'll probs be a l o t harder   ''hey i just met you and this is crazy so here are my symptoms diagnose me maybe???''   idk if i'm actually looking for advice or just stories from others or NOTHING because this post will probably be made private anyway ha ha   stop tlakgn

  2. clawbag said: If you NEED a referral from a Dr to see a counsellor (like you need one here) consider going in with the information of one you want to see. My Dr called depression ‘feeling down in the dumps’ but I went in prepared and she took it more seriously.
  3. metatheater said: i would suggest going to a psychologist or professional counselor rather than your family medical doctor, especially if you don’t have the best relationship with her to begin with!
  4. ambienne said: so basically just maybe find other crazy people and be like, hey how did you do this? IDK, it took me like a really really long time to actually get myself to the doctor and get myself straightened out so I am probably not the best at advice.
  5. nevercertain said: def go to a new doctor. the fact that she knows your history is not nearly a good enough reason to go to someone who makes you uncomfortable! if the new doctor knows her shit, she’ll have no prob helping you even if you’re ~new~. good luck! <3
  6. apameas said: I’m a lurker but just wanted to say that while it’s initially incredibly awkward to go to a stranger (and sometimes is later, too), it can help? Being diagnosed helped me know what things were causing (and so how to try to lessen) my anxieties.
  7. densitychaser said: I generally storm into a counsellor and go ok you can’t say anything until I get all this shit off my chest and proceed to vent at them and if it’s not done by the time the time is up I go again and when I’m done ask them what they think.
  8. abhorsening said: once you search your zipcode you can narrow it by “issue” …sorry, i just realized you probs dont live in the US? idk if it works outside of there. i hope things work out for you.
  9. ensignhoney said: I found some nice, free youth counseling at a clinic in Vancouver, you could probably find something similar in Ontario. (I also had an anxiety attack the last time I went to my family doctor to talk to her about my anxiety.)
  10. cyborglovesong said: I went to my family doctor to get diagnosed once and it got me nowhere. Then I went to a totally different doctor and he diagnosed me and got me on some meds and things are pretty okayish for the most part now. So!
  11. sharpless said: ok this is going to sound weird but i am a HUGE fan of people getting therapy/counseling/meds. i finally did it a couple of years ago and i’m currently medicated and in therapy and doing MUCH better. (still crazy tho lololol sigh)
  12. dupery said: sometimes ~family doctors~ assume there’s less boundaries and they can come with their own prejudices/be unprofessional. also I always feel better talking to a stranger.
