it's kinda strange that i can envision romulan society better than starfleet society because textually it's not utopia but starfleet society IS you just kind of see little hints that everything's not as good as they're making it out to be like even if you look at it from a grand scale surely the people in the colonies don't get the same kind of services as the people in the core planets because how can they how are resources even distributed between the rich ass M-class planets and the barren rock colonies or something and then there's the odd thing from canon we can pretty much assume that you will experience prejudice if you're a hybrid i mean they rehash that same trope over and over again and humans are explicitly casually speciesist and it's treated as a joke and i don't know how to imagine the lives of the common people because i don't know if something sinister's going on (brainwashing!!!) or if ... everyone's just trying and FAILING there is no war in ba sing se how does migration between worlds even work if i live in a shitty ass rock colony can i just be like well i wanna live in this fucking pleasure planet give me a hOuSe i don't understand
